A Holistic Approach
The Pipeline, Practice, & Process Layers for Improved Business Outcomes
Improving New Product Development Project Speed and Team Effectiveness Through Lean & Agile Methods
The Pipeline Layer:
The pipeline layer works to institutionalize a recurring leadership decision making process for force ranking project priorities, broadly communicating them to the organization, implementing self-governing work rules, and putting in place methods to understand the development capacity of the business.
The Practice Layer:
The practice layer focuses on HOW work is done by product development teams by using Agile Methods, Visual Management, and deploying highly effective team-based Acceleration Events. This area of focus improves project team communications and effectiveness, identifies and mitigates projects risks, reduces the likelihood of costly project loopbacks, and improves overall project speed.
The Process Layer:
The process layer is the WHAT of new product development. It includes effectively managing project scope, removing waste by finding queues in the NPD process, performing spot kaizens to permanently remove bottlenecks and waiting time in order to improve the flow of product development projects from idea to launch.
